Hi Steve,

We're glad it all went so well and that she said yes. We wish you and Brie all the best.

Hi Margaret and Tom,

Things went wonderfully this weekend! I drove Brie out to the Headlands a little before sunset on Saturday. We drove to the parking lot next to Battery Mendell and then began exploring the trails along the cliffs. While Brie was taking pictures of the sunset and the coastline I was gently getting down on one knee (I ran a trail marathon that morning, so I was a little sore). I took a picture of her, the ring, and the sunset while I was on a knee. Tipped off by the sound of the camera, Brie turned around and gasped when she saw the ring and me on a knee. I told her that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her and asked her to marry me. She said Yes!

After the proposal, we hiked around some more and took a couple pictures together with the lighthouse or the GG Bridge in the background. It was a beautiful time.

The thing that excites me the most of having the Marin Headlands as a proposal spot is the all of the exploring that we will be able to do around the area in the future. Restaurants change ownership and go out of business, but beautiful spots like this are here to stay. Thanks for the guidance, it worked out wonderfully.

Kindest Regards,
Steve

Hi Steve and thanks for the kind words.
Hawk Hill would be a great place but there's a problem with some repair work on Conzelman Road which leads to the hill. It's closed until sometime in November. You can still get to the lighthouse but you have to drive around towards Rodeo Beach on a detour. There are other places out that way that might substitute. Margaret will do a little investigating and send you an email.

Congratulations on your pending engagement!

Regards,

Tom

Thanks for these great posts! I will be visiting SF next month with my girlfriend and was planning on proposing to her in the Marin Headlands but had no idea where or how to do it. After reading a number of your posts, I think that Hawk Hill will be the place followed by some vista points towards the lighthouse and dinner at Murray Circle in Sauselito.

As for secluded and romantic, how would you rate Hawk Hill at sunset the Sunday of Fleet Week? Will we have some nice space to ourselves, or am I setting myself up for failure? Thanks for the advice and the inspiration!

Best,
Steve
